For precision when making fine adjustments, the three-way head wins, but only by a small margin. The ball head is quicker and easier to operate, while fine adjustments are more attainable than in many of Manfrotto’s previous ball heads, thanks to the adjustable friction damper and dedicated panning clamp. Overall, the ball head is more convenient for most shooting scenarios.
