YOUR PHOTO CHALLENGE: GO SHOOT… A splash of red

-

Just like the lone tree challenge, a photography project that finds favour with both experienced photographers and newcomers alike is the shoot-a-single-colour one. Red is typically the default option in these images.

We wanted to capture a sense of the changing season with this one, so we aimed to find natural splashes of red rather than man-made ones. Red provides a clear, vivid focal point in a picture even when it features quite small in the frame. Chris was drawn to these berries and used his 70-200mm f/2.8 lens at its maximum f/2.8 aperture in order to narrow the depth of field and ensure the thin stalks didn’t get lost against the relatively busy background.
