Take a belay

-

An invaluable addition to your kit bag is an item that’s unrelated to photography: a climbing belay. “I’ve tried all sorts of methods to stabilise my monopod over 20 years, and this is the best technique I’ve found,” Gary says. “By tying the belay onto a belt you can rest the foot of the monopod in the gap and have the entire weight of the camera and monopod on your hips. You can then walk around and adjust your angles quickly without having to reset the height of the monopod.”
