Vanguard Supreme 40F £110, $180
The Supreme 40F will keep your Nikon dry down to five metres (16.5ft) underwater – although, with so much foam inside, you have to wonder how the case could sink so deep. It can also withstand temperatures of -40 to +95°C (-40 to +203°F) and weight of up to 120kg (265lbs).
Its 43 x 29.5 x 17.5cm (16.9 x 11.6 x 6.7in) interior provides enough space for a full-frame D-SLR and three or four lenses, and it weighs a modest 4.4kg (9.7lbs). Hexagonally diced foam is included, although Vanguard also sells an optional divider bag for added versatility. Despite the keen price tag, it boasts some nice extras, too, such as a comfy handle and non-slip rubber feet. Robustness, meanwhile, is excellent – the Supreme feels every bit as tough as the Calumet and Peli cases.
