1 Waterproofs

The best shot will come from standing in the water, so put on a pair of wellies and some watertight waders to stop your feet getting cold and wet.

2 Head torch

You’ll have to shoot this in the dark or dim light, so take some portable light with you. A bright head torch leaves your hands free to adjust your Nikon.

3 Waterfall

Find a nice-sized waterfall – nothing bigger than three or four metres high or your glow sticks will appear insignificant in amongst the frothy water.

4 Glow sticks

The lights we used were six inches long, which was big enough to show up in the final shot. We bought 10 in different colours to vary the trails.
