Reflections at night
Working your scene makes every location a more efficient stopover. Staying the night gives you the opportunity to get photos others can’t.
The benefit of travelling in a campervan is the ability to stay the night in either a great location or just down the road from one, without much planning ahead. That makes it incredibly easy to capture a favourite scene as it passes from midday sun into darkness. On a clear night, look up. Thousands of stars might be visible if light pollution isn’t too bad. Add to that a still lake and you have the recipe for a stand-out photo. Silhouetted mountains shrouded by twice as many stars as usual, as in the photo below, make for a visually complex scene that doesn’t require you to find an interesting foreground.
