15 Highlight-weighted mode

In addition to regular metering modes, Nikon has added a new Highlight mode designed to prevent highlight ‘blow-out’ in high-contrast scenes. This sounds very exciting, because blown highlights can’t always be recovered successfully even if you shoot RAW files, while it is possible to bring up shadow detail very effectively with relatively little quality loss – if in doubt, it’s better to underexpose and preserve the highlights.
