Sealing the deal
One of the factors that contributes to the confidence-inspiring, go-anywhere build of higher-end Nikon DSLRs is the extent of their weather sealing. The seals around joints, buttons and dials reduce the chances of water drops and dust entering the camera body and causing damage. They don’t make the cameras waterproof, though, and you also need to use them in conjunction with a weather-sealed lens to ensure the lens mount is protected.
