Seascape photography is all about long exposures, so the Nikon has to be dead still to prevent blur. Alan was using his Vanguard Alta Pro 263AB100 tripod but wasn’t getting the height he needed for the composition, due to uneven terrain, so Michael lent him his Gitzo Carbon 6X, which extends up to eight feet, giving him enough reach to get his framing right.
