Michael says… Long spiked feet on tripods are great for just about any outdoor situation, because they make the tripod more stable. They sink down into soft mud and sand to create a stable footing, or slip into fissures in rocks. Contrary to what you might assume, rubber feet can slip on moss-clad rocks or muddy areas, but the spikes won’t do that, making them a much better choice.
