Michael says… Long spiked feet on tripods are great for just about any out­door sit­u­a­tion, be­cause they make the tri­pod more sta­ble. They sink down into soft mud and sand to cre­ate a sta­ble foot­ing, or slip into fis­sures in rocks. Con­trary to what you might as­sume, rub­ber feet can slip on moss-clad rocks or muddy ar­eas, but the spikes won’t do that, mak­ing them a much bet­ter choice.
