NIKON D7100
It was the flagship DX format camera of its day, and still has a lot to offer
Released (year): 2013 Price new: £1100/$1200 Buy at MP B.com today: EXCELLENT £485/$620 GOOD £435/$690 The D7200 became Nikon’s best DX format body when launched in 2013. A major upgrade was the rangetopping Multi-Cam 3500DX autofocus module, with 51 AF points, of which 15 are cross-type. Handling highlights include copious direct-access controls for creative shooting adjustments, an up-market pentaprism viewfinder with 100 per cent frame coverage, top-plate info LCD, dual memory card slots and a horde of custom settings.
It’s fast too, with a 1/8000 sec max shutter speed and 6fps continuous drive rate, though sports photography is limited by the memory buffer, which handles just six to nine Raw shots. The 24.1Mp image sensor was among the first to omit an optical low-pass filter, and the D7100 delivers razor-sharp shots with excellent all-round image quality.

As well as having 51 AF points (15 cross-type), the autofocus system works with telephoto lenses and teleconverters that have an f/8 effective aperture rating. There’s also a built-in AF drive motor for use with older lenses.
Displays
The displays are good, comprising a 3.2-inch, 1229k pixel LCD at the rear, plus a mono backlit info display up on top.
