Nikon D5500

-

A little gem of a camera, it’s the ideal backup body for a bigg er DSLR Released (year) 2015 Price new £640/$900 Buy at MPB .com today: Excellent £409/$576 Like new £429/$605

Sufficiently new that it’s fully compatible with Nikon’s recent flurry of AF-P (Pulse) autofocus and Type E (electromagnetic aperture) lenses, the D5500 is a great DX format camera body. It’s based around the same 24.2Mp image sensor and EXPEED 4 processor as the current D5600, and has all of the same key features. These include a 3.2-inch fully articulated LCD screen, 39-point autofocus system, 5fps continuous drive rate and built-in Wi-Fi. The only really notable difference in the later camera is that connectivity is extended to include NFC, Bluetooth and Nikon’s SnapBridge app. The D5600 also adds a time lapse shooting mode. Even so, unless you really need the extra wireless facilities, the D5500 is the more costeffective buy, delivering the same shooting experience and all-round performance as the later camera.
