The scale of distance

If measuring the minimum focusing distance with your hand doesn’t do the trick, set manual focus and twist the focus ring on the lens until it reaches the minimum focusing distance. On some lenses, you can see this is by looking at its distance scale. This will tell you in feet and metres just how far in front of your lens the camera is focused.
