Our Apprentice says…

This is my favourite shot of the evening. After waiting for it to fly from its perch, the osprey hurtled down, hit the water and powered its way into the air, trout-in-talon. Just as it gained some height its wings outstretched, and it appeared to glide through the air. I managed to get focus on its head and shot at the wider end of the 180-400mm lens – thank goodness I did or I wouldn’t have fitted the entire bird in! The gimbal head moved fluidly as I panned as the bird flew towards me, and thanks to everything working so seamlessly together I came away with this glorious shot.
