1 Classic subject To make great images you need great subjects. While you don’t necessarily need this AC Bristol for ace shots, a well-maintained car that’s recently been cleaned will look far better than an old banger covered in dirt. 2 Wide-angle lens Some spaces where you shoot the cars may be a bit cramped. If this is the case you need shoot at wide angles to fit in the whole length of the car. The wide end of a standard zoom, such as our 24-70mm, is ideal. 3 Telephoto lens Some spots will need a little extra reach, and if you’re shooting cars on the track you’ll definitely need a telephoto lens to get closer to the action. We used a 70-200mm lens to shoot the cars in the distance. 4 Quality of light Shooting inside will give you soft shadows as the light pools in through the windows, but outside can produce harsher tones. Keep an eye out for the light on the car and what it does to the look of the paintwork.
