Frame up Utilize simple compositional techniques
1 Frame within a frame Look for natural frames in your environment and use them to draw attention to particular areas of your scene. The green shutter part-way pulled down here provides lots of negative space, making it easier to focus on the cars in the lower half of the frame. 2 Look for leading lines These lines aren’t just for landscapes and winding roads, you can find leading lines in car bodies too. Here we have a headlight on the left of the frame and the bodywork shape, including the white stripes, lead the eye from the bottom-right to the top-left. 3 Shoot all angles Exhaust all the angles before eventually moving on from a vehicle. We took a wide shot to include the headlights but noticed the fantastic detail, a calorimeter, which we then zoomed in on to throw the background out of focus and fill the frame.
