I’ve read that Sigma’s ‘Global Vision’ lenses are compatible with a USB Dock, but is it worth the money?

Jason says… Sigma’s optional USB Dock is a neat accessory that’s compatible with almost all of the company’s Art, Contemporary and Sport lenses from the Global Vision line (see www.sigma-global. com for details). Lenses attach to the docking station in the same way you’d mount them on a camera, which is connected to a computer via a USB cable.

The companion Sigma Optimization Pro software enables you to apply firmware updates to your lenses, and to fine-tune autofocus accuracy with a range of four focus distances, as well as at four focal lengths for zoom lenses. You can also set how much rotation is required in manual-override lenses to switch from auto to manual focus. In most Sport-line lenses, you can adjust the autofocus speed, the autofocus range limiter distance, and the stabilizer mode between three available options. At £39/$59, the USB Dock is great value at the price.
