I want to buy a DX format superzoom as a ‘holiday lens’. Which one would you recommend?

Jason says... There’s plenty to be said for sticking with Nikon’s own-brand lenses but, when it comes to travel-friendly superzooms for DX format cameras, Sigma and Tamron have a slight edge for compactness and value.
Our first choice for delivering a powerful zoom range while keeping the size and weight to a minimum is the Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC. This lens measures a measly 75x97mm, weighs just 400g and costs £199/$199.
We also recommend the Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM | C (71x86mm and 430g.) This lens gives similarly good performance but it is slightly more expensive to buy at around the £289/$399 mark. For a big zoom range in a reasonably small and lightweight lens, the Tamron 18-200mm VC delivers good performance and unbeatable value
