Demonstrates how to enhance your portraits using Capture NX-D’S Auto Retouch Brush tool

-

Take your portraits to the next level with simple retouching techniques using Nikon’s free Capture NX-D software

Thanks to social media, there are plenty of opportunities to present our portraits to the world. But if you want to get the edge, why not use Capture NX-D’S tools to help improve them?

You can flatter your subject’s complexion by banishing blemishes and reducing wrinkles, change lighting and more. We’ll also show you how to summon a digital barber to tidy up distracting strands of hair that we missed when photographing.

The process of capturing a portrait in-camera can create unflattering results. Our example start image is underexposed so the subject looks dull and drab. Thankfully we can brighten things up by adjusting the portrait’s exposure in NX-D.

When you spray Capture NX-D’S Auto Retouch tool over an object, such as a sensor spot, it samples an adjacent area, then transplants the sampled pixels over a specified area. As this process is automatic the tool works best when removing objects in clean areas, like clear skies. But, with some work you can remove larger objects, such as wrinkles.

We’ll start by showing you how to fix underexposed shots and counteract colour casts for a more natural look. We’ll then move on to use the Auto Retouch Brush to help create a perfect portrait.
