I was trying to shoot the full moon on my Z 6 but it wouldn’t autofocus with my 70-200mm f/4 lens via an FTZ adapter. My older D750 had no problem. Is this normal? Clive Williams

QDSLRS, as well as mirrorless cameras, can struggle to autofocus on the moon, especially with a medium telephoto focal length like 200mm, where the bright moon is very small in a big, dark sky. You can expect better accuracy and consistency by focusing manually. The greatest magnification will help with manual focusing on the Z 6 – as well as in Live View mode on the D750.

A further bonus of using Live View on the D750 is that it takes mirrorbounce out of the equation, which can often degrade sharpness, especially when using telephoto or macro lenses. Alternatively, you can use the ‘exposure delay’ mode. On the Z 6, there’s also the option of using the ‘focus peaking’ display to help with manual focusing.
