The right subject

Make sure that the subjects you are working with fit your ideas. For this photograph, I used an old rusty toy van and some dry acorns because I wanted to capture the essence and ambience of autumn. The vehicle is dead and aged (yet beautiful), with faded colours, worn textures and plenty of imperfections. The acorns symbolize autumn’s gift. If I had used a new toy, or a more modern representation of a vehicle, it wouldn’t have fitted with the autumnal theme and wouldn’t have expressed the same message to the viewer.
