Dream dates
CUBADUPA
Wellington’s Cuba Street is famous for being a cool little slice of bohemia with culinary and creative soul. So it makes sense that it should have its own vibrant festival. That’s what CubaDupa is – an event to celebrate the creative spirit of Cuba Street and the Wellington community. There will be over 120 acts and 250 performances all weekend, as well as workshops, interactive street dress-up stations and mouth-watering food stores.
24-25 March, Wellington, cubadupa.co.nz
AUCKLAND ARTS FESTIVAL
For most of March, Auckland will be the hub for artistic and cultural performances, where international and local acts come together. Items not to be missed include the House of Mirrors (a massive outdoor walk-through installation), Humans of South Auckland (portrait photography accompanied by short stories from the South Auckland community) and The Piano: The Ballet (a performance by the Royal New Zealand Ballet inspired by the 1993 film The Piano).
8-26 March, Auckland, aucklandartsfestival.co.nz
GINDULGENCE
Curiosity Gin and The Ilam Homestead are bringing together the country’s top gin makers in March with Gindulgence, New Zealand’s first gin festival. Attend a cocktail masterclass, try premium gin varieties and meet the makers. Food trucks will be on site and there will be live music.
