MUSTANG MADNESS!

-

Love ’em or hate ’em, there is no denying the popularity of the Ford Mustang. One of the main driving forces behind the Mustang, Lee Iacocca, probably had no idea just how well the little ‘pony’ car would sell, with 418,812 being sold in the first year of production way back in 1965. Since then, the Mustang has undergone a number of style and platform changes, the current generation being the ninth. On April 17, 2017 — the Mustang’s 52nd birthday — the Canterbury Mustang Owners Club arranged a get-together to celebrate the Mustang. A show and shine was held at the Canterbury Agricultural Park, with 112 of Henry’s finest parked up for the afternoon. The warm autumn day provided a great chance for people to catch up with one another and spend a very relaxing afternoon. A neat touch that was very much appreciated was the birthday cake arranged by Loretta and Garry Jackson. The display was open to all Mustang owners, not just club members, and there being no entry fee was a bonus. Donations were collected for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, with $648 being raised. Although by no means huge, the Canterbury club’s celebration of National Mustang Day 2017 was nonetheless a fantastic event, with a relaxed vibe and plenty of iron worth drooling over — not literally, of course! We’d like to thank the event organizers and everyone who turned up for making the event what it was.
