The manufactur­ing process is a somewhat complex one, both in terms of the hours involved at Neill’s end before the physical work can begin and in the printing process itself. As mentioned, it begins with a scan of the original item, which is then traced using CorelDraw. Details such as the exact size of any holes or fixtures must be painstakin­gly measured by hand. Once Neill is happy with a file, it’s exported to a specific electronic­s program from which a ‘mech sample’ can be ordered. A ‘mech sample’ is essentiall­y an outline of the product including any holes but without the copper component. This allows for a test fit of the component to the back of a cluster so that Neill can check for the perfect fit.
