Simplicity Is Key

-

There’s no black magic or technological trickery in Fanga’s oiling system. While oil supply can be challenged in an engine experiencing a lot of lateral g at high revs, Dan’s engine builder, Zane Shelley, tells us that they’ve had no such problems: “We run a really good Melling oil pump — a high-quality CNC one — and a winged sump with an extra litre of oil capacity.” Fanga tells us that simplicity is key. “We just keep the oiling system simple. We don’t run a dry sump or an Accusump; it’s just got a baffled sump that we overfill. There are no oil lines to go wrong, or to mess up, and no drysump belt to throw” — the fewer things there are to go wrong, the less likely it is that something will go wrong.
