OFF-ROAD WIZARDRY

Off-road genius and fabricator extraordinaire Jared Biggs is currently building a pair of seriously tough 4x4 trial trucks at his East Auckland–based Nitro Customs workshop. By the time you read this, one of them will have been finished and debuted at the Mount Egmont Pairs competition. The goal is for both to compete in the upcoming NZ National 4x4 Trials season starting at Labour Weekend. Jared’s personal truck, displayed with few panels, is an ultra-lightweight build below 1000kg and runs a nitrous-assisted LS2, while the customer build runs a brand-new LS3 and four-wheel steer. Both are built around TIG-welded chromoly space-frame chassis and will run new gear unseen in local trials, including Off-Road Innovations (ORI) struts and aluminium hubs.
