Andrew Lister ‘ESE’ 1964 Chev Impala SS

For many years, most local low-riders weren’t all that flash. Even the low-rider fans themselves would freely admit that the cars were not all that great, but one man helped to step the local game up — Andrew Lister. Having spent plenty of time in America, Andrew had witnessed first-hand the build quality and attention to detail in the low-rider scene there, and he brought that quality with him when he built his ’64 Impala SS. That was the first time we’d seen a low-rider with a clean engine bay and the first with a detailed boot install. In recent times, the bar’s been raised a whole lot further, but, in mid 2009, ‘ESE’ was the king.
