CHRISTIAN HILLARY
AGE: 42
OCCUPATION: Owner — Global Machine Tools
PREVIOUSLY OWNED CARS: A few V8 Commodores, a few Dodge Rams, ’69 HK Monaro, ’73 Plymouth Cuda, Ford F150 Raptor, and some Euro stuff — everything V8!
DREAM CAR: I like all the late ’60s–early ’70s muscle cars, but my dream shed would include: my Camaro, my Cuda, a ’69 Dodge Charger, and a ’67 GTO — no Fords!
WHY THE CAMARO? My dad took me to the drags from a young age, which got me addicted to pre-’80s muscle cars. Mopars, in particular, have always been a favourite, and firstgeneration Camaros have always turned me on — in particular, the ’67 RS models with the foldaway headlights.
BUILD TIME: Four years
LENGTH OF OWNERSHIP: Nine years
CHRISTIAN THANKS: Mike ‘Bic’ Anderson at Sonic Race and Machine — nothing was an issue during the build; all of the crazy ideas I had were worked through and designed by Mike as good as, if not better than, I had imagined — not only did the car turn out exactly how I wanted look-wise, but I am amazed at how well it drives and handles — that is all down to Mike’s hard work and knowledge; Phil Pagan at Track Sport Engines, for his assistance in building the engine; Gavin Thomas at Precision Workz Engineering, for helping with the final CNC work when my guys were busy; my crew at Global Machine Tools, for all the ‘homers’ I got them to do during work time, making bits for the car; Shawn at Action Canvas and Upholstery, for the leather-interior installation; Matt Ahern, for help, knowledge, and sourcing the custom wheels and tyres; above all, my family — my wife, Angie, and my girls, Mila and Jamie, for letting me live my passion (obsession) watching TV shows, motorsport events, and car shows
