MEATY 500

-

The new-generation Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is coming through, and while nobody outside of Shelby knows exactly what to expect from it, a picture has been forming. Based on a teaser photo leaked by Ford earlier, we know that the new GT500 — set for release next year, presumably making it a 2020-manufacturing-year model — has a front end that means business, with a large grille, bumper vents, and front splitter. Add that to what’s visible in the latest overhead shot, and we can comfortably surmise that it’s going to have a supercharged mill — those beefy bonnet vents won’t be for show — and a meaty wheel and tyre package under those pumped guards. Power is the real question mark at this stage, with rumours flying but nothing confirmed other than Ford’s claim in January that it will make more than 700hp with a supercharged V8. With something this tough in the pipeline, we’ll be keeping you posted as more information becomes known.
