PALMY DIGS DEEP
It’s a date that may as well be set in stone for lower North Island petrolheads — the first weekend of August is swap-meet weekend for the Palmerston North Hot Rod Club (PNHRC). Hosting what must be one of the — if not the — largest automotive-only swap meet in New Zealand, the PNHRC unequivocally calls it “the only real hot rod swap meet left”, and there isn’t much we can do to understate the size of the event. None of that is news, though. What’s really cool about this year’s PNHRC Swap Meet and Hot Rod Display is that the club has come on board with CanTeen NZ — a local charitable organization supporting young people living with cancer — to provide a donation from the proceeds after the event. Given the size and popularity of the Palmy swap meet, we’re sure that this is going to be a great addition to the programme as we know it. The Palmy swap meet will be taking place at Manfeild, Feilding, on 4 August. More information can be found by visiting pnhrc.co.nz.
