MODERN APPROACH

-

Auckland’s Ross Newby is putting a different spin on his VK Commodore build, using modern technology to get away from the traditional style of making templates, building parts, and then remaking them once more so they actually fit. The car, which we’ve featured before on these pages, is a genuine BT1 that he’s owned for many years and driven on street and track. This time around, things are a whole lot more serious, and he’s using his abilities as an architect at Architecture in Touch to draw up his fuel system to make sure that it’s exactly right. Having finessed the layout and drawings, the components are being laser cut and precision folded. That fuel system is set to feed a 680hp 355ci Holden stroker motor backed by a close-ratio Richmond six-speed box, so, once it’s back on the road, we have no doubt that Ross will be back to his old tricks of embarrassing many other cars around the track. Let’s just hope that he keeps it off the wall this time!
