A MONSTER IS COMING

-

The name ‘Tony Witinitara’ is one well known to these pages, usually due to his brutal HZ Premier, which graced the cover of Issue No. 154. But Tony’s now deep into another, even more serious, build, and it’s being built with the specific goal of turning the NZ’s Quickest Streeters list on its head. The 1969 Camaro belongs to Stuart Goldsworthy and was purchased as a dead-stocker for the sole purpose of this build. While Stu initially mentioned a twin-turbo LSbased combo, Tony steered him off that, instead leading him to a big block. Not just any big block, but 540ci of Steve Morris’ finest, a package that’s good for well in excess of 2000hp, thanks to a pair of Precision turbos. The block itself is an alloy Brodix item and will be topped with Head Hunter heads. Should a pair of intercoolers be added, Steve Morris is claiming that there’ll probably be enough power on tap to spin the dyno to around 3600hp. Like the engine combo, the rear end has grown, too, already going from mini tubs and leaf springs to being fully tubbed with a four-link — likely a wise move. The rear end itself will be a Krysler Shop– built piece that’s set to be capable of handling even more power, should the wick be truly wound up. An M&M Trans–built Turbo 400 is on its way for the build to try to ensure that the car has everything it needs for handling the quarter-mile while retaining enough manners to keep it streetable. While Stu’s no stranger to big power, having owned a list of cars that most of us can only dream about, even for him, the Camaro will be a massive step up when it hits the track in late 2018. You can bet that we’ll be following this one closely!
