1938 FORD SEDAN

-

It may look mild, but the ’38 Ford sedan is the toughest street car Jim’s got here. “I bought that car off a friend of mine, Redvers Charles. That car’s famous!” he says. “It used to have 2.5[:1] diff gears in it, and would do 75mph in first gear. It still frightens me, and I’ve tamed it down a lot! I’ve changed the diff gears, I’ve taken the big cam out, [and] it’s got different heads on it now, so it’s usable. Before, you could hardly drive it on the street. It wouldn’t idle under 2500[rpm] — you had to do 100mph to make the thing run properly!”
