You couldn’t miss David Xuereb’s bright red ‘ TUF73C’ Ford Cortina in the MotorEx hall. Not only did he make it into the Super 6, but he also took out Gold in the Engine and Components, and Undercarriage and Driveline categories, along with Silver in Paintwork, and Bronze in both Top Bodywork, and Top Interior and Rear Compartment. Having owned the car for over 35 years, David did nearly all the metalwork on the car himself, including smoothing the engine bay and undercarriage, as well as fabricating the mini tubs and smoothed-out dashboard. Rods Restorations then laid down the eye-searing red tint, equalled in intensity by the 364ci Windsor V8 laying down 550hp.
