TONY AQUILINA —
1937 FORD SLAMBACK Tony Aquilina’s 1937 Ford slamback scored Silver in the Innovation category, which is no mean feat considering that it was originally built in 2011 by Shane Rowe of Southern Rod and Custom in rural New South Wales. The street rod is based around a heavily modified Oze Rods glass body and chassis. To keep those big 18x8-inch and 20x10-inch Intro billet wheels turning, Tony’s street rod runs a Harrop-supercharged LS2 Chevy V8 and 4L65-E four-speed auto, with independent front suspension and a four-link rear end. Though many show rods go for eye-popping fluoro hues, the slamback has been coated in a subtle custom olive paint by House of Kolor, with matching olive green leather and suede upholstery by Bendigo Trim.
