A WHEELY GOOD IDEA

-

Choosing the right rims for your ride is one of the most creative choices you can make in a car build, but they also have to work. Once you have chosen the right style and finish, never mind the diameter and width, front and back, you need to make sure they come with the right PCD, offset, and disc clearances?

You can go to the internet for most things, but, until now, sorting that out has been a good old-fashioned head-scratcher for most builders. Realizing that this was a pain point for both builders and retailers, DTM got to work on solving it. DTM’s marketing manager, Brendon Tordoff, manually loaded more than 4000 fitments on DTM’s records into an online fitment guide. It covers 53 vehicle makes and hundreds of models. “We knew the fitment guide was a big task when we started it a couple of years ago, but manually loading the data against each make and model is the only way to ensure it is correct,” Tordoff explained. Best of all, it works.

“It’s proven to be a solid engine that we keep adding to daily as a result of fitment enquiries from retailers and consumers,” he commented. Tordoff said that if the fitment information wasn’t already loaded, they had to find it anyway, so might as well add it to the guide.

“That way, it’s there for everyone,” he said.

You can search wheels by vehicle, wheels by size, if you have the specifications already, and tyres by size. Select the width, ratio, diameter, and brand. If you are running a staggered fitment, the guide allows you to add different-sized rear wheels. Check the guide out for yourself at dtm.co.nz.
