DODGE UNVEILS TRIPLE-THREAT FOR 2021

-

It’s been a write-off of a year, and if you didn’t already have enough reasons to kick 2020’s ass to the curb, Dodge has just given you three more: a 807hp Challenger, 797hp Redeye, and a single-year 710hp Hellcat-powered Durango. The offering makes Dodge the only American company to have three 700hp+ vehicles under the same roof.

The Challenger SRT will be in a new Super Stock variant, based on the Redeye, putting out 807hp. It runs 10.50s at 131mph straight out of the factory, reaching 60mph in just 3.3 seconds. To aid in these feats, it’s been given 315-wide Nitto drag radials that are wrapped around lightweight wheels, and the LSD gearing is shorter at 3.09:1 from the standard 2.62:1. Track Mode allows for 6400rpm shifting, just 100rpm below redline, while adaptive Bilsteins firm up the rear and soften the front. Another thing to note is that no Super Stock badge can be found — and that’s on purpose.

The Redeye, on the other hand, is cranking 797hp, up from the Hellcat’s new 717hp rating. And that comes thanks to it making use of the largest factory-installed supercharger of any production car, at 2.7 litres, with 14.5psi of boost. Throw in a 6500rpm redline, dual-stage fuel pumps, and tech ripped straight from the Hellcat Demon, and it’s a wild beast to tame — good for 10.6s quarters at 129mph.

And finally, another Hellcat SUV! Because who doesn’t need an all-wheel-drive with 50/50 weight split capable of pushing out 710hp?! Drop the kids off to school and slap a quarter mile in just 11.5 seconds — it even hits 60mph in 3.5 seconds for those impromptu traffic light situations. It also retains the 3950kg tow rating from the standard model.

Tallying up the full Dodge offerings, and there’s a combined 8950hp on tap across all the SRT variants for 2021, which means that, in terms of raw power, the current era will be likely remembered as the ‘good old days’ in years to come.
