The an­nual blast up Mt Tar­ren­gower, near Malden in Cen­tral Victoria, at­tracted 33 en­tries, but once again it was peren­nial win­ner Mike Panayi who recorded fastest time on his 1961 Nor­ton At­las. Mike’s sec­ond prac­tice run of 43.3 sec­onds was ac­tu­ally the quick­est of the week­end, but he was only frac­tion­ally slower in his of­fi­cial climb, at 43.7 to fin­ish com­fort­ably ahead of Stacey Heaney on 45.3 and Wayne Done­hue on 49.0 – these be­ing the only three to break the 50 sec­ond bar­rier.
