A Royal En­field at the NZ Show

The fifth run­ning of the New Zealand Mo­tor­cy­cle Show will take place at the ASB Show­grounds in Auck­land on the week­end of 16th and 17th Septem­ber 2017, or­gan­ised by the Pap­kura Ro­tary Club. Ride For­ever are on board again as the prime spon­sor and will be pro­mot­ing rider safety and their range of safer rid­ing cour­ses. The show is run as a Char­ity Event, with all prof­its go­ing back to sup­port the com­mu­nity. In­dian are again gen­er­ously do­nat­ing a bike which will be sold via Trademe start­ing at $1 re­serve. In 2015 the Burt Munro themed bike drew enor­mous in­ter­est, with John Munro (Burt’s son) tak­ing part in the clos­ing stages of the auc­tion. This bike is now on dis­play in In­ver­cargill along­side Burt’s orig­i­nal ma­chines. 2017 is the 50th an­niver­sary of Burt’s record. Ev­ery vis­i­tor to the show can reg­is­ter in a draw for a fan­tas­tic door prize, which this year is a Royal En­field Clas­sic 350. A ma­jor ride-in of Royal En­field en­thu­si­asts is be­ing planned which will be a great spec­ta­cle and demon­strates the gen­eros­ity and en­thu­si­asm that Royal En­field are putting into the show. A $1000 cash prize for the best restora­tion in the 18 months lead­ing up to the show is again up for grabs. This is the New Zealand Clas­sic Bike of the Year award, spon­sored again by the good peo­ple at Pro Rider. Star In­surance are again demon­strat­ing their sup­port with sim­i­lar prizes for Best Bike in Show and Best Club. For 2017 the show grows in size again and will have over 10,000 square me­tres of cov­ered in­door dis­plays. Bike park­ing for 2017 is again free with pri­or­ity park­ing di­rectly out­side the ex­hi­bi­tion halls. The ma­jor bike man­u­fac­tur­ers will all be ex­hibit­ing with 14 brands con­firmed to date, along with club and trade stalls with a wide range of mo­tor­cy­cle cloth­ing, ac­ces­sories and bike re­lated prod­ucts.
