Jampot Rally NZ plans progressing
Organiser Murray McLean reports that things are falling into place for the AJS/Matchless extravaganza in 2020. “20 years have passed since New Zealand hosted an International Jampot Rally so we are preparing a pre-rally tour of the South Island leaving Nelson on Monday 3rd February 2020 and travelling down the west coast through some of the best scenic roads in New Zealand to our southern most city of Invercargill to watch the Motorcycle Racing events at the Burt Munro Challenge. From there we will travel north over Alpine passes, returning to Nelson on Friday 14th to our Rally Headquarters at Tahuna Beach Holiday Park; a distance of approximately 2170km. We will provide a backup vehicle with trailer with a mechanic, tools and spare parts. Our Saturday Ride takes us west over the Takaka Hill to Takaka for lunch and return to Tahuna Beach Holiday Park for our AGM, dinner, guest speaker and prize giving. The rally will conclude on Sunday 16th February. If considering shipping your bike to New Zealand they should arrive Mid January 2020 to Port Nelson. While Insurance is not compulsory it is recommended. Bikes must pass a safety Inspection before they can be operated on our roads. A deposit of 500 pounds per person (or equivalent currency) is required to secure accommodation bookings for pre rally tour and needs to be paid by 30th November 2018. This is due to having to secure suitable lodging particularly in Invercargill as it is peak tourist season and we envisage a group of 40-odd people on the tour. Accommodation at the Tahuna Beach Holiday Park will be able to be selected by rally entrants online as there is a wide range of options from tent sites to luxury apartments. We have been allocated a booking reference for rally attendees to get special group deal rates.
