Day 1
Devonport > Launceston
Disembark Spirit of Tasmania and head along the Bass Highway (A1) to Elizabeth Town. Be sure to stop in at award-winning Ashgrove Cheese to sample traditional English cheeses as well as quirkier varieties like ‘Wild Wasabi’. Then it’s onwards to Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm Café for a hearty raspberry-inspired breakfast. Grab some chocolate-covered raspberries for the drive and continue on to Launceston. Stock up on Tasmanian arts and crafts at the not-for-profit Design Centre, before heading to picturesque Cataract Gorge for a ride on the world’s longest single span chairlift. For upmarket seafood, book a table at Stillwater or for sublime dry-aged beef you can’t beat the Black Cow Bistro. Art enthusiasts will enjoy a stay at the Hatherley Birrell Collection. Or choose self-catering apartments, like those at TWOFOURTWO.
