AMD ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF RYZEN CPUS
AMD has finally announced pricing and availability for its much awaited, new from-scratch design, Ryzen CPUs. The top-end Ryzen 7 CPUs will be released first and should start landing in PC stores around March 3rd in Australia. The mid-range Ryzen 5 and entry level Ryzen 3 CPUs will be out in the coming months. Practically every PC store locally is already taking pre-orders for the Ryzen 7 chips. In AMD’s provided benchmarks for Cinebench R15, the Ryzen 7 appears to match or beat Intel’s 6thgeneration flagship i7-6900K, but priced less than half of what Intel wants for their CPU. AMD even claims their performance goals are even better than they expected, with a 52% improvement in instructions per clock than the previous “Excavator” core CPUs. Independent benchmarks are yet to arrive, but it seems like AMD is on to a winner with Ryzen.
