As

much as we liked the G810 Orion Spectrum and G610 keyboards, the new G413 is the best keyboard we’ve seen from Logitech in years. It combines everything we like in a keyboard - premium feeling mechanical keys, solid construction, a small footprint and a general lack of bells and whistles that do little outside of increase the price tag. The result is a great looking keyboard that is a joy to use.

The keyboard comes in two varieties - Silver and Carbon ( a fancier word for black) - but aside from the colour of the thick aluminium faceplate and the backlighting (white in the case of Silver and red for Carbon), the keyboards are identical. This means they both feature the same lovely short throw Romer-G keys, function based media controls, a USB passthrough and a very reasonable price tag. Thanks to the Romer-G switches and aluminium face plate, the G413 feels like real premium keyboard. It’s rock solid without a hint of flex or bounce. As a result it performs well for basic typing as well as frenzied gaming.

We really don’t have any significant complaints about the G413. Sure, it would be nice to have a USB 3.0 passthrough rather than 2.0, but that’s neither here nor there, and some dedicated media keys like the G610 would be nice but again they are not necessary. With a street price that sits at around the same level as the HyperX Alloy and Roccat Suora, the Logitech G413 is a brilliant, impeccably built and great feeling gaming keyboard. DANIEL WILKS
