Corsair K68 + Glaive

A keyboard you can literally drool over

PRICE $ 159 www.corsair.com

The new K68 looks a lot like the budget priced Corsair Strafe keyboard but costs around $50 more. From typing on it you wouldn’t really notice the difference – both feature real Cherry MX switches, a single colour backlight and integrated media controls. It’s full sized and comes with a simple but comfortable wrist rest. There is no software needed for setup, so it’s a simple plug and play affair. The lighting design can be customised with downloadable drivers but given that red is the only lighting colour available it’s really much of a muchness. Our review sample features Cherry Red switches and they feel like you would expect – pleasantly mechanical but without any tactile bump or click. It feels good to type and game on.

What really differentiates the K68 from the cheaper Strafe or more expensive RGB options available from Corsair, isn’t the choice of lighting or switch. It’s the fact that the keyboard is spill and crumb resistant. There can’t be many people who haven’t eaten over their keyboard at some stage or managed to spill a drink all over their desk, necessitating a serious clean and, in many cases, a new keyboard. The K68 looks to relieve some of that problem. It’s not fully waterproof as the keyboard uses an electrical connection to register a keystroke, but for spills it works nicely, standing up to small amounts of liquid without a care. I managed to spill some of my tea on the K68 in the middle of writing this. Let’s just pretend I was being thorough, not clumsy. DANIEL WILKS
