Computex

is one of those events that we always look forward to. Yes, there’s the tired feet and lack of sleep, but it’s one of the very best events in the entire tech world, and we wouldn’t miss it for all the tea in China Taiwan. There’s always so much to see, hear, touch, taste and smell. Well, less emphasis on the taste and smell unless you count the fantastic food that many of the vendors offer after hours.

Computex this year was as vibrant, colourful and busy as ever. Taiwan is arguably the center of the PC world and there’s no doubt that Computex remains as relevant as it ever was. The organisers proudly claim there were no less than 1,602 exhibitors across a total of 5,015 booths. If we were to visit every one over four eighthour days, we’d have a grand total of 23 seconds with each one, assuming instant teleportation between each one. It’s a big show!

This year was somewhat unusual, with no overall theme to speak of. But even though there were no major motherboard/ CPU or graphics card releases, don’t let that give you the impression that it was boring. Gaming was everywhere. Peripherals and headsets are more prevalent and diverse than ever before. There were gorgeous gaming setups, sim racing rigs and beautifully modded systems. And as we’ve come to expect, RGB everywhere. RGB overload might be a meme these days, but there really were some gorgeous products that we’d be proud to show off as part of our own gaming rigs.

With product designers and engineering teams freed up from producing 9,999 motherboards, many of the vendors were able to devote time and effort into some truly innovative and diversified products.

Join us as we dive in and take a look at the best of Computex 2018.
