Asus ROG Strix GeForce RTX 2080 Super

A souped up 2080 Super.

- PRICE $1,479 www.asus.com/a

If the RTX 2080 Super is an improvement over the standard 2080, then the Asus ROG Strix 2080 Super is on another level again. It’s faster, cooler, quieter, has a better build and arguably a better look. It’s no surprise that it comes with a higher price too.

GPU spec-wise, the Asus and FE cards are essentially identical, though the Asus boost clock is higher and it drops one of the Display Ports in favor of an additional HDMI 2.0b port. The Asus comes with a host of additional extras though including RGB lighting, dual BIOS, voltage read points, and of course that delightfully over the top cooler and massively over-engineered power delivery system that can provide the GPU with more juice than Nvidia would ever be comfortable with. It’s a real powerhouse of a card, whether you like something cool and quiet, something to show off in a windowed case or you want to overclock the hell out of it, you’ll be impressed by the Asus Strix.

The Asus Strix had a consistent performance lead over the Founder’s Edition 2080 Super, but not by as much as we expected. Still, it’s hard to argue with that when it’s the fastest non 2080 Ti we’ve ever tested. It’s also amazing cool and quiet. Despite a 250W TDP, the monstrous Asus cooler can barely be heard above our already quiet AIO CPU cooler.

Asus has created a stunningly high-end graphics card that’s an improvement in every way over the already very good Founder’s Edition card. But as is the case with many top-end Asus cards, that impeccable quality comes with a price.
