How do I get a faster image preview when shooting tethered?

Brian Says… If you are using a USB cable to connect your camera to your laptop, make sure it’s plugged into a faster USB 3 port, rather than an older USB 2. One of the most effective ways to speed up the transfer of images is to send a JPEG, not the Raw file. Set the camera to RAW+JPEG capture, and select a small JPEG as even this has more resolution than most monitors can display. In EOS Utility, click on the Transfer Settings icon, which is next to the Image File Settings. Here you can choose to have only the JPEG sent to the computer, but both the Raw and the JPEG stored on the camera memory card.
