Self-timer

A camera facility that incorporat­es a user-selectable time delay between the pressing of the trigger and the beginning of the exposure. It has traditiona­lly been used to enable the photograph­er to appear in the shot. It's also a useful way of minimising the vibration caused by pressing the camera shutter button when shooting a long exposure with the camera mounted on a tripod.
