Dark to light?
When seeking the right angle, light plays a huge part. An altered angle could change everything. Take our two shots here – the subject is in exactly the same spot in both – the edge of a shady tree. She’s only swivelled. In the inset image above the camera is facing into the shady area for a moody underexposed backdrop. By contrast, taking the camera into the shade and shooting outwards instead (a reflector here has bounced light back into the face) results in this wonderful blown out backdrop. One angle isn’t necessarily better than the other, but it shows how important light is in crafting your composition.
