When would you use the Rate button on the EOS 7D Mark II?
Andrew Winters, Derby
Brian Says… The RATE button assigns one of five star ratings to the image displayed on the LCD. These star ratings are stored in the metadata that every picture has. The star rating is readable by many software applications and can be used to aid sorting or searching for images. I use it on location to indicate my, or my model’s, preferred shots. Many of the other recent EOS cameras can apply star ratings in playback: press the Q button, and choose the Rating option. The 7D Mk II, 5D Mk III, 5D Mk IV and 5DS models can be customized to apply specific star ratings.
